Our China charity trek offers a truly unique experience. Not only is it a chance to visit one of the world's most impressive historical sites, the Great Wall, but also it offers a rare opportunity to trek and camp in a remote part of rural China and to experience local life in its most unspoilt state.

The Great Wall attracts over a million visitors each year, however, the vast majority of tourists visit just a small section of the wall near Beijing. We have planned a charity trekking route that will take us beyond the regular tourist trail and onto sections of the wall that have been seen by only a handful of westerners over the last hundred years.
China is a spectacular country composed of highly different landscapes: with plateaus and mountains in the west, and lower lands in the east. The Great Wall of China is one of the world's most impressive historical sites. It was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987. The Chinese people are proud of their heritage and are eager to share what China has to offer.

Itinerary
Day 1- Fly to Beijing.
Day 2 - Transfer from Beijing by coach to Gubeikou. At the hotel we will have a full briefing from the expedition leader.
Day 3 - Today will take us to a part of the Great Wall called "Crouching Tiger Mountain". This section is open but rarely walked, is in a natural state and will provide a full day on the Wall. The height at the summit is roughly 600m. We can camp in a monastery grounds near to the start of the Gubeikou Great Wall.
Day 4 - Gubeikou to Tao Chun. A great day of trekking, as we spend all day on the Wall. We will only leave the Wall for an hour or so to circumvent the army enclosure.
Day 5 -Tao Chun to Gangfang. We will walk from Tao Chun all the way to where we would normally break off the wall to head for the campsite at Simatai. From there to camp is usually an hour or more. Instead we will break off the opposite side and head straight to Gangfang which will take roughly two and a half hours. At Gangfang we camp at the school as usual.
Day 6 -Today we make our way along a track scattered with stones and the remains of the ancient wall. A descent into the valley leads us to our hotel nestling on the edge of a reservoir.
Day 7 - Our last day of trekking takes us through forests, with occasional views of the towers on the wall. A final descent brings us to our finish line.
Day 8 - Free day in Beijing.
Day 9 - Beijing to UK
