Great Wall of China China Charity Trek - Muscular Dystrophy Campaign / Tescos. China
28 March 2010 to 05 April 2010
Our China charity trekking adventure offers a truly unique experience. Not only is it a chance to visit one of the world's most impressive historical sites but also, as a result of our local contacts, it offers a rare opportunity to trek and camp in a remote part of rural China and to experience local life in its most unspoilt state. Aside from the spectacular scenery of the Great Wall and the surrounding countryside, one of the most rewarding aspects of this charity trek is the ability to experience the warmth and enthusiasm of the Chinese people.
More Information
You will need to book this trip directly with the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign.
In order to maximise the opportunities for interaction and learning about the local history and culture, a team of local translators support all our treks in China. The Great Wall attracts over a million visitors each year. However, the vast majority of tourists visit just a small section of the wall near Beijing. We have planned a route that will take us beyond the regular tourist trail and onto sections of the wall that have been seen by only a handful of westerners over the last hundred years.
China is a spectacular country composed of highly different landscapes: with plateaus and mountains in the west, and lower lands in the east. The Great Wall of China is one of the world's most impressive historical sites. It was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987. The Chinese people are proud of their heritage and are eager to share what China has to offer.
They are also politely curious about those who come to visit from far away places, and are always willing to share a smile and call you a friend. In order to maximise the opportunities for interaction and learning about the local history and culture, a team of local translators support all our charity challenges in China.

Testimonials
I thought the route was spectacular allowing us to see so much more than the wall.
Inspirational leadership, beautiful route, scrumptious food, great craic! Thanks everyone.
This is my second ATD charity trek and they get better everytime. The wall was stunning, the local villages were amazing. Another life changing experience. The staff and ATD charity challenge crew were helpful, informative and very good at getting us to achieve the unthinkable. I will definitely be back on another ATD charity trek soon.
