Adventure racing - Are Across the Divide ATOL bonded?

Yes. Our ATOL number is 6475. ATOL is a financial protection scheme covering over 28 million UK consumers each year. Only ATOL tour operators can provide the peace of mind and full financial protection.

Adventure racing - Can I raise money for charity?

Yes and we would encourage you to do so. You can view the charities that are currently supporting our Adventure Racing Series here, or alternatively contact the charity you wish to support, who can provide you with a fundraising pack and advice.If the charity you wish to support is not on this list but would be interested in promoting the event please ask them to contact Julie

Adventure racing - I have my own insurance policy so do I need to take out your insurance?

Adventure racing - Is the event safe?

The event has been fully recced, and casualty evacuation plans and risk assessments with control measures are in place. The event is supported by an experienced medical team that will be on hand to monitor your physical health during the race, and to withdraw you from the race if they feel that your health is in danger.

The events in our adventure series cover extreme distances in extreme environments and we will advise you of the risks and the control measures in place so that you can make a fully informed decision about your physical and mental suitability for this event. It is likely that these events will push you to your physical and mental limits. You will need to train adequately to ensure that you are in the best physical condition and must follow all of the safety instructions given to you. A full copy of the risk assessment will be made available to all participants once you have signed up for an event.

Adventure racing - What are the minimum age entry requirements?

You must be 18 or over to take part in one of ATD’s adventure races

Adventure racing - What is the minimum experience requirements?

We recommend that participants have completed at least a marathon in under 6 hours prior to joining our event. However we will consider other endurance events and previous experience before accepting your place.

Adventure racing - What's included in the price of the challenge?

This does vary from race to race, but generally the following are included:

  • flights
  • transfers
  • transfer of luggage
  • shared accommodation, tents or hotels
  • all camping equipment, except camping mats and sleeping bags
  • water whilst on the challenge
  • food (full board except for race day)
  • experienced Expedition Leader
  • support team
  • ground staff
  • an English speaking doctor, most trained by Expedition & Wilderness Medicine

Adventure racing - What's NOT included in the price of the race?

  • vaccinations –further information is in your race manual
  • travel insurance - essential
  • tips to local staff
  • local departure taxes
  • visas
  • personal expenses (drinks, souvenirs etc)
  • race food and energy supplements

Just Overseas - Are there toilets at camp?

Yes - but depending on the challenge they can be very basic (usually long drop!).

Just Overseas - Can I book my own flights?

Yes. You must inform us by email, that you do not wish to take our flights, advise us of your alternative arrangements, and your plans to meet the group. Failure to do so will mean that group tickets will be issued and charged for.

Just Overseas - Can I bring a friend/family member to support me?

Just Overseas - Do I have to share a tent/room?

Yes. Tents and hotel rooms will be allocated on a shared basis. If you have pre arrange to share with a friend please let us know. Alternatively the Facebook group can also be used to pre arrange this.

Just Overseas - How much spending money will I need? 

On most races there will be an opportunity to buy souvenirs and gifts at the end of the trip, but there will be little or no chance to shop during the race itself. Generally, we recommend that you will need no more than £200 spending money, unless you have very expensive tastes!
