Why you can trust us

Over the past decade Across the Divide has taken thousands of people to some of the world’s remotest corners; through some of Britain’s most rugged countryside and across the icy wastelands of the Arctic. Our dynamic risk assessment approach and the quality, experience and training of our staff have ensured that the very highest standards of safety, adventure and fun have been maintained across the board.
All of our events, projects and challenges are staffed to the very highest levels and Across the Divide’s collective experience encompasses all the worlds’ continents and all of its climatic and physical extremes, including its very highest. All of our overseas operations are staffed with a medical team, as are the majority of our UK events. Our expedition medics have to complete the gold standard Expedition and Wilderness Medical training course and Across the Divide as an organisation is striving to the guidelines set out by British Standard BS8848.
This standard sets out requirements for the operational management, including safety of all ventures outside the UK. It pulls together expertise and good practice into a new national standard for the safe management of overseas ventures.
Regular training is carried out to ensure the very latest techniques for group and safety management are applied across the team and no event, project or challenge is run without a thorough risk assessment being carried out and an emergency contingency plan being drawn up.
Across the Divide has invested heavily in safety and communication equipment and all overseas events are equipped with an Iridium satellite telephone, VHF handheld radios, - and a Personal Locator Beacon (PLB) as well as numerous other items of safety and communication equipment. Across the Divide also maintains a 24 hour emergency phone line.
Our medical teams come complete with extensive medical kit refined over the years by the input of some of the country’s most experienced expedition doctors, who are in demand to provide medical support for a number of outside organisations aside from Across the Divide itself.
Whilst no amount of planning and preparation can account for every conceivable risk, our planning protocols and the experience of our staff ensure that we maintain a highly flexible and adaptive style that caters for most situations.
We are ATOL protected our bond number is 6475.
Across the Divide’s own Environmental and Social Impact policy ensures that all of our events are operated to the highest ethical standards; that our international challenges, corporate experiences and charity projects follow our very strict guidelines for responsible tourism. We also encourage everyone to work out their carbon footrprint for their trip by using the carbon calculator on Cimate Care's website.
We are delighted to announce we are now a partner of the International Mountain Explorers Connection, which focuses on improving the working conditions of porters on Kilimanjaro and in Nepal. We strongly believe in what the organisation is trying to achieve and are delighted to be in partnership with them.
