What makes us different

Across the Divide is different from the mainstream event organisers by having an extremely strong heritage in adventure and the outdoors as well as in the corporate workplace. This has allowed the company to build innovative charity challenges and corporate experiences and has seen Across the Divide being placed on the shortlist in no less than three Virgin Travel Award categories and one of its founding directors, Mark Hannaford, receiving a BT Entrepreneur of the Year Award and being elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. The cornerstone to Across the Divide’s approach has always been safety, ATD was the first company to introduce salaried medical staff on all of its international events and this is supported by rigorous risk assessments and comprehensive event safety procedures.

Across the Divide is striving to both meet and surpass the guidelines set out by British Standard BS8848. This standard sets out requirements for the operational management, including safety of all ventures outside the UK. It pulls together expertise and good practice into a new national standard for the safe management of overseas ventures. We also carry out regular training to ensure the very latest techniques for group and safety management to all the Across the Divide staff team.
Across the Divide’s corporate training background is extensive with a number of our training associates having in excess of twenty years’ experience in the field of corporate learning and development.
Unifying Across the Divide’s approach is a passion for the outdoors, for doing things well, and for ensuring that not only do the participants on our events, challenges and expeditions feel supported and secure, but also that they return empowered and invigorated.
Across the Divide’s own Environmental and Social Impact policy ensures that all of our events are operated to the highest ethical standards; that our international challenges, corporate experiences and charity projects follow our very strict guidelines for responsible tourism. We also encourage everyone to work out their carbon footrprint for their trip by using the carbon calculator on Cimate Care's website.
We are delighted to announce we are now a partner of the International Mountain Explorers Connection, which focuses on improving the working conditions of porters on Kilimanjaro and in Nepal. We strongly believe in what the organisation is trying to achieve and are delighted to be in partnership with them.
Across the Divide stands for safety, quality, thoroughness, dependability and innovative event management all delivered with a strong sense of fun.
