Another wonderful lady tells us why she’s raising funds for Parkinson’s at Just Walk

I like a challenge…and that’s exactly why I like Just Walk. It’s an event that has appealed to me so much that I have taken part in every single one of them!

Choose your distance, choose your charity and choose your amount…it’s YOUR challenge.

My inspiration is not only seeing all the other fundraisers on the day, all joined together for their own reasons at Goodwood Racecourse; it’s also my husband. At the age of 36, he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease, a progressive neurological illness for which there is no cure.

I have walked the 60k route and the 10k route and can say that both routes capture the beautiful scenic countryside that surrounds Goodwood. It really doesn’t matter how much or how little walking experience you have. From the moment you sign up, ATD supply training tips and newsletters… And even better, on the day, you’re supplied with lots of support from the team, a well-marked route so no-one can get lost, food & drinks, medics and lots of inspiration from all the fellow walkers…

I’ve made it a family affair and my husband and son did the 10k route, whilst me and my Mum did the 60k route! We’re normally last, but we don’t worry, we’re always well looked after. Across The Divide are extremely encouraging and very very patient, waiting up to 16.5hours for us to cross that Finish line…

But afterall, it’s MY challenge….. what’s yours going to be???”
