WIN a place on an overseas ‘Just Open Event’ with ATD

To celebrate the launch of its new website and the start of 2010 Across the Divide is giving away a place one of its famous overseas challenges.   One lucky winner will win an exclusive place on the most popular NEW overseas ‘Just Open Event’ , worth up to £3500.  Plus we are giving away three fabulous Montane Jackets as runner up prizes.

Just Events (formerly known as Open Events) allow you to raise money for the charity of your choice whilst challenging yourself, getting fit and enjoying the great outdoors and a fabulous overseas destination.

To be in with a chance to win this fabulous prize, you simply need to cast a vote for which NEW Just Event charity challenge listed below appeals to you the the most.

The Charity Challenges include:

  • Trekking volcanoes and hot springs on an Iceland Charity Trek .  Iceland is a geothermal wonderland, with volcanoes and hot springs defining this stunning landscape.    We walk amongst mountains, geysers and steaming mud pools; trek on glaciers; and spot the wonderful wildlife that is in abundance. We finish our trek with a visit to the world famous Blue Lagoon.
  • Travelling along the Pacuare River Valley on a Charity Trek & Raft Challenge in Costa Rica.Costa Rica is a tiny country but one of the most ecologically diverse. Trek a spectacular 86km route along the Pacuare River Valley, which takes you through lush tropical forests, passing through small farming communities that allow us to gain an insight into the real Costa Rican way of life.  The charity challenge finishes with a 20km raft down the class III-IV rapids of the Pacuare River through virgin rainforest, past cascading waterfalls and along river-carved canyons.
  • Charity dog sledding and snowmobiling during an Extreme Arctic Experience in Norway.  Activities include cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, dog sledding and snow shoeing.  With temperatures falling as low as -30oC, you will be tested to the limit in this hostile environment.Travelling deep into the Arctic Circle, this event will be the ultimate experience for many participants.

The Just Event challenge with the most votes will automatically become the prize, and the names of all those who voted for that event will be put into a prize draw to win a place on the challenge.

I have just returned from the Trek China walk 10 – 18th October 2009. Paul & Brummie were our 2 fantastic (ATD) guides. I would love the oppertunity to trek with both these highly motivational guys again. This trip really grabs my imagination due to the 2 modes of treking in such a beautiful country.

The trekking volcanoes in Iceland sounds amazing, something I have always wanted to do. Who knows what the future brings, I maybe signing up again. The new site looks great and I have always recommended ATD to friends and family that want to experience something out of the norm. A trusted and professional company.

I had an amazing time on the Borneo Summit to Sea Challenge with an amazing bunch of people and a fantastic ATD Team (Mark, Amy and James!). I couldn’t have done it without them! In total we all raised over £120,000 for the Prince’s Trust. A fantastic experience and all for a good cause!

Happy New Year to Mark, Karen and all at ATD!!
I haven’t been with you for far too long and really miss the spirit of adventure, challenge, freedom and friendship.
If you have not been on an ATD Event, you should go – they can (and do) change your life.
If you have, you know exactly what I mean!
What appeals to me? The Iceland Volcano Trek – for me it ‘ticks all the boxes’!
Thank you ATD for all my past experiences: Sahara (in the rain!), Namibia (in the blazing sun!), China, Ecuador, Brazil, New Zealand….
I hope to be with you again very soon!
    Best wishes,
    Nige.

I also like Steve above, took part with the PDS Trek China 2009 with ATD, I would like to commend the expedition leaders Paul & Brummie for outstanding effort & being there 24/7 & as Steve ha said I would also love to trek with them again. The guys were very professional in their whole approach & would have fitted in perfectly within my old Airborn Regiment. The ATD Doctor Claire was very understanding – with the ability to be in the right place to give support at the right time. Being a PD Sufferer this will be a real personal challenge & add to my portfolio of charity events – the others were
    • British Heart Foundation – London to Briton bike ride (7 times)
    • AFF Skydive jumping from 13,000 feet & when you exit the plane you are assisted by two AFF instructors who stabilize you whilst freefalling. In a nut shell you jump out a plane & are shown how to freefall on the way down.
    • As mentioned above Trek China with PDS / ATD

  29. Liz Bolton says:

As a single parent still supporting my son (training in joinery and woodworking), grandparent and full time working woman running my own very small PR consultancy I seek opportunities to explore new lands, relax by physically challenging myself, and give something back to others less fortunate when I am able to take a break from work. I have participated in the Vietnam and Machu Piccu treks, trained for the Clipper Around the World race, trekked the Great Wall of China and walked 60km over a weekend to raise money for Breast Cancer. For each of the charity events, I matched the monies I raised with my own funds and would do so again if I should win. As important as the location/style of challenge is the charity involved and with my own son’s training dependent on bursaries, I believe that the Princes Trust is an incredible charity helping young people in the UK reach their potential. As a result it is the Costa Rica Trek and Raft event I would choose to participate in.
