About Guatemala

Print this panel email to a friend

A land of rainforests, lakes & mountains. At the north end of Central America, Guatemala is a land of extremes. It has the highest mountains, the largest indigenous population and some of the wildest country in the region. It is perhaps best known as the centre of the ancient kingdom of the Mayas and the Mayan influence remains strong today, from the 22 Mayan languages spoken by the modern inhabitants, to the striking designs used in clothing and architecture alike.

Charity treks, bike ride, multi event challenges and projects in Guatemala offer a chance explore one of Central America's most dramatic and diverse regions. Guatemala is a stunning country with a fascinating history and our treks and challenges in the jungles and mountains of the country offer something quite different. Join our charity treks and charity challenges and you can not only explore Guatemala but also raise much needed funds for charity.

"A fairy scene of Titan land, combining exquisite beauty with colossal grandeur… On each side, rising perpendicularly from three to four hundred feet was a wall of living green. Trees grew from the water's edge, with dense unbroken foliage. Not a spot of barrenness was to be seen" John Lloyd Stephens on Guatemala's Rio Dulce, 1839.

Guatemala Trek

A voyage across Guatemala takes you into a world of fantasy travel - a land that truly justifies the rigors of third world journeys. With bewildering diversity in both land and people this event is designed to bring to all the senses the wonders of this fascinating country.

Guatemala Multi Activity Challenge

A voyage across Guatemala takes the traveller through many geographical and climactic zones. Our event is designed to maximise the sense of diversity that permeates Guatemala, as well as to present participants with a truly multidimensional experience. This is a challenge designed for those wanting the extra little bit of adventure from their event.

Our charity treks, charity projects and charity bike rides work hand-in-hand with local communities and companies to provide a win-win situation for all concerned. We have helped to build covered eating areas, which are then used by the local community as meeting rooms and classrooms, fixed toilets used to promote public health and trekking trails.
