A land of rainforests, lakes & mountains. At the north end of Central America, Guatemala is a land of extremes. It has the highest mountains, the largest indigenous population and some of the wildest country in the region. It is perhaps best known as the centre of the ancient kingdom of the Mayas and the Mayan influence remains strong today, from the 22 Mayan languages spoken by the modern inhabitants, to the striking designs used in clothing and architecture alike. |
